The installation is the result of research in Warsaw's underground passageways carried out by students of the 2022 School of Ideas course. The underpass is a structure associated with a succession of interlocking urban ideas. Once a modernist, innovatively modern idea, today it is a neglected relic of the past, a degraded space, 'shameful', unwanted, not fitting in with today's city planning trends and standards. So what is to be done with these underground passages? Does the only solution lie in 'backfilling' this potential created in the past? Are these merely unsightly, dirty, dangerous, dark places? Can their space be used for other purposes in times of environmental crisis?
